Ampelos adalah personifikasi pohon anggur dan kekasih Dionysus (Bacchus), seorang satir. Menurut Theoi, ia satir muda dari Thrakia yang tampan, dan menurut Fasti karya Ovidius ia putra seorang nimfa dan seorang satir yang dicintai Bacchus. Ada beberapa kisah tentang akhir hidupnya. Ampelos was a personification of the grapevine and lover of Dionysus (Bacchus), a satyr. According to Theoi he was a handsome young Thrakian satyr, and according to Ovid's Fasti he was the son of a nymph and a satyr whom Bacchus loved. There are several accounts of his end. According to Theoi, in one he was slain by a wild bull and became the first grapevine, in the other he fell from an elm tree while picking grapes and became a constellation. According to Wikipedia, Dionysus turned him into a constellation or the grapevine, and according to Nonnus a wild bull gored him to death after he mocked the goddess Selene. In Nonnus' Dionysiaca, Ampelos rode a bull and challenged Selene, "I have horns and I ride a bull"; the jealous Selene sent a cattle-chasing gadfly so that the bull galloped off wildly. In Ovid's Fasti, Ampelos fell while picking grapes and Liber lifted him to the stars.
