The Malay Wikipedia article calls Dewa Nun a god of chaos and the primordial age. In ancient Egyptian religion, Nun (also Nu) personifies the primordial watery abyss that was there from the moment of creation, and out of which the creator sun god Ra arose. World History Encyclopedia describes Nu as the embodiment of the primeval chaos out of which the world emerged. Nun is one of the eight deities of the Ogdoad. Creation accounts have the first mound of land rising out of the Nun's waters. From the Middle Kingdom he is called "the father of the gods" and appears on temple walls, and Naunet is his female aspect and consort. In Egyptian art Nun is shown as a large human figure holding a notched palm branch, or in human form with the head of a frog, and is typically shown holding aloft the solar barque or sun disc. In the Late Period, when Egypt was occupied by foreign powers, his negative aspect, chaos, became the dominant perception.
