Kebanyakan laporan lain, selain penampakan ikan besar, menggambarkannya panjang, seperti belut, bulat, 30 sampai 40 kaki, dengan mata hitam besar; sebagian lain menyebut ikan besar sepanjang 6 sampai 10 kaki, mungkin sturgeon.

The Flathead Lake Monster is said to live in Flathead Lake, Montana. Its story comes from a Kutenai legend, in which a monster's antlered head burst through the ice and half the tribe drowned. The first report supposedly came from Captain James C. Kerr in 1889. Locals named it "Flessie" after "Nessie" and describe a large eel-shaped creature twenty to forty feet long. The Flathead Beacon says the first modern report to be taken seriously may be the one James Kerr, captain of the steamboat U.S. Grant, made in 1889. Kerr thought he saw a large log, but the "log", more than 20 feet long, began to move through the water. Most other reports, apart from large-fish sightings, describe it as long, eel-shaped and round, 30 to 40 feet long, with large black eyes; some instead name a massive fish 6 to 10 feet long, possibly a sturgeon. Alternative explanations have appeared over time. Some sightings have been attributed to imagination, pranks, waves, shadows, logs or animals. In 1955 a white sturgeon caught by C. Leslie Griffith was displayed in a museum and fuelled theories that sturgeon were responsible, but according to the Beacon, netting, electro-shocking and small submarines have found no sign of sturgeon or other creatures. A local lake-conservation group records a Kootenai oral version from elders Catherine and Louise Andrew: a bird's wife fed huckleberries to a friendly lake creature, and her jealous husband killed the monster. The creature's body became Sullivan Hill near Elmo on the western shore. The city of Polson put up a 25-foot bronze statue of the creature in Sacajawea Park in 2024.
