The cavalo do pensamento, "horse of thought", is a mythical being of Portuguese legend. No further sourced detail about its form or tales is available yet. A collector of folk tales recorded a tale in which a youth is asked to choose between the horse of the wind and the horse of thought. He chooses the horse of thought, a horse that spits fire from its eyes and mouth; once he mounts it he is carried so fast that he does not know where he is going, and in the blink of an eye he is at his front door. After he speaks the words he had been told, the horse bursts with a bang and vanishes like an evil thing. In another text, "A Mourama", the same author relates that the man of Donim was taken to the mourama and, to return to earth, had to come on the horse of thought, which he preferred to the horse of the wind. He also includes "cavalo do pensamento" in his list of 25 places in the concelho that are important for the mouros.
