Haqueta de foc adalah kuda kecil gaib yang muncul pada tengah malam dalam keadaan menyala di tengah cahaya terang. Biasanya ia terlihat beberapa hari lalu menghilang. Ia sering ditempatkan di sekitar Serra de Mariola, Vall de Biar, dan Vall de Perputxent. Di Beneixama tak seorang pun berani keluar rumah setelah gelap karena takut bertemu kuda itu di jalan desa. The haqueta de foc is a supernatural pony that appears at midnight ablaze amid a great glow. It is usually seen for a few days and then disappears. It is often placed around the Serra de Mariola, the Vall de Biar and the Vall de Perputxent. In Beneixama no one dared go out after dark for fear of meeting the pony in the village streets. In another tale farmers saw it cross the fields wrapped in fire and ridden by a knight. The legend parallels that of Comte Arnau and his fire-breathing black horse. According to a newspaper column, the haqueta de foc always followed the same route along the foothills of the Benicadell, parallel to the river Serpis, from the maset del Gord near Beniarrés towards l'Orxa and the castle of Perputxent. The fire-horse imagery is tied to the season of Tots Sants (All Saints), and some still say it returns to the Perputxent valley at least once a year.
