Kisah dan tradisi
Otomitl adalah salah satu dari enam raksasa putra Iztac-Mixcoatl dan Tlaltecuhtli yang menghuni Bumi setelah Air Bah. Otomitl is one of the six giant sons of Iztac-Mixcoatl and Tlaltecuhtli who populated the Earth after the Great Flood. The sixth son, he climbed the mountains near Mexico and raised Xilotepec, Tollan and Otompan. In the Nahoa cosmogony poem with its footnotes, Otómitl is called the Xocóyotl, who lives always in the mountains around Mexico and prospers in populations such as Túllan, Xilatepéc and Otómpan. Footnotes explain that xocóyotl means "the last son", and that those settlements now carry the names Tula, Jilotepec and Otumba in the state of Hidalgo. According to the poem, Otómitl is one of six brothers born of the union of the "ferocious serpent of white cloud" and the source of many races. A footnote in the book records the Indian belief that the earth was first inhabited by giants called quinametzin.
